Life is Delicious!

I can’t think of a better place to taste the awesome sweetness of life than in your own kitchen. It’s where the meals are lovingly prepared, after school snacks devoured and midnight snacks stolen. Families can be drawn closer while eating together, details of your day discussed and future plans dreamed out. Life is delicious and you only have to go as far as your kitchen to taste it.

Plantation Shutters St George Utah

Commonly Asked Questions When Installing Shutters.

There’s no question that plantation shutters help make a house a home, but there are questions that come up when purchasing shutters. Some of the most commonly asked questions are as follows:

1.What type of material are the shutters made of?

100% solid, kiln dried, bass wood.

2. What is the time frame from time of order to installation?

Typically 4-6 weeks. Shutters are custom made for your home. This includes measuring, cutting, sanding, painting, and assembling. Each shutter is hand made specifically for you.

3. Installation fees?

None! Ever!

4. Can you match the color of our paint?

Any color, any stain. All we need is the color code or a sample.

5. Will the hinges match?

Of course! We can match any color or choose from a variety of metal samples.

We are happy to answer any of your questions as you look to install shutters in your home. Just ask! 435.669.2986

Give me 5!

Giving someone 5 means something cool just happened or you achieved something wonderful or you just read about 5 awesome reasons to have plantation shutters installed in your home. The following list will no doubt leave you looking for someone to “High Five!”

1. Instant gratification. Our first reason is all about vanity and looking beautiful. Installing shutters will transform your home into something more beautiful the moment they go up. It also makes having curtains, valances or other window dressings unnecessary. They stand on their own and look amazing doing it.

2. No strings attached. I remember hearing stories of little ones getting tangled or choking from a dangling cord and it was always a fear  in the back of my mind. Well now I have one less thing to worry about as I shutter the world one home at a time.

3. Let the light in. Shutters let in tons of light either by opening the louvres, using the tilt rod or by opening up the whole frame. And they are great for closing the light out when you want to sleep in or keep the neighbors from seeing in.

4. Energy Efficient. Shutters are great insulators. In fact they are rated #1 for heat blockage. If you can’t handle the heat, don’t get out of the kitchen, just shut the shutters.

5. Easy clean. Shutters can be opened up and dusted from the back. Just a quick wipe down is all they need for these low maintenance, beauty bringing, non hazardous, light bringing (or blocking), energy saving, 100% handmade wood plantation shutters.

Now if that doesn’t make you want to give the nearest person a high 5, maybe you should just slap yourself with that hand.

Plant a Seed and a Shutter Will Grow

shutterstock_175081304

Ever wonder where shutters come from? They come from Basswood trees, a wood that has a natural luster, fine even texture and is a favorite for wood carvers. Seeds are planted and a beautiful tree produces bushels of shutters. The trees are topped and then continue to grow more shutters. The wood is kiln dried, a process that shrinks the wood and makes it stronger and harder. Builders pick only the best for our shutters, take down your detailed request like color and size, then deliver them to your door. They even install at no extra charge! Trees grow in the northeastern states, so they are born and raised in the USA.

We also offer Knotty Alder and other types of wood by request.

The Heat is On

We live in a diversely beautiful place. As long as I’ve lived here and as much as I love the outdoors I’m sure there are many adventures & beautiful places still left unseen by my eyes. I can’t wait to get out there and be a part of everything around us that we call home. The sun is a friend of mine.

But lets face it. It’s hot out there. Right now is the time to hide from that glorious sun and keep our cool until we can begin exploring again. So shut those shutters, find a cold drink and kick your feet up. Until we can take back the day we own the early mornings and evenings.

Tip of the day: Shutters are the best product for reflecting heat and block out 92% of the light. Let the light in is our motto, but maybe block it out for now.

Tiffanys Cleaning tips

One of the more commonly asked Question we get here at Tiffany Shutters is how to Clean plantation Shutters. First, do not use any abrasive cleaning products, this will potentially ruin any finish on your wood or paint. The best and safest cleaning solution for your shutters is to use a soft towel and simply applying water to it to moisten the (clean & soft) towel. Paper towels are not highly recommend but can work in a worst case scenario. The easiest way we have found for your to clean your wood shutters is to take a large bowl of water and moisten a towel. Do not scrub hard the wet towel on the surface of your plantation shutters or you can harm the finish or paint. Keep in mind the occasional deep clean (beyond dusting) is a good practice to keep your shutters looking top notch. If you have some kind of a stain or mark you can try something with nonabrasive like certain uncolored liquid soaps. Make sure to whip dry your cleaned shutter surface to keep away from water spots. Happy clean shutter everyone!
