Cleaning your blinds and shutters weekly is a bit overkill but not a bad idea. Using a soft bristle brush on the end of your vacuum is very quick and easy. Pets shed and dust collects in enclosed environments. Using the vacuum will keep them dust free and nice for years to come.
At least once every month, spray a dusting cloth with wood polish, and dust the shutters thoroughly. You may need a small stepping stool or ladder to reach your blinds and shutters.
Many shutters have small indentions and grooves. Using a small brush, such as a tooth brush works great to clean these hard-to-get-to areas where they collect dust, dirt and small insects such as moths or flies.
It is not recommended to use soap and water to clean wood shutters as the water may damage or warp the wood. Soap and Water works fine on Faux blinds but not on wood shutters or wood blinds
